  You get this message if the original game has an error. You need to check it there. Maybe your patch 2.5 was not successful?

  You must have both games patched to version 2.5 for EET to work. If you have a GoG installation you must have the complete BGEE+SoD from them, not just the smaller patch.

  
  

  
  

  My Mods

• Thank you for your quick reply. I installed the games yesterday with the Beamdog standalone installers. I reinstalled via Beamdog Launcher now, but that was not the problem. It seems like the problem was, that I wanted to use the Install Tool as normal user and not as an Admin. I gave myself Admin rights and now its downloading all the mods. The instalation will be going for the night, hopefully everything will go smoothly.
• I had the same problem but a totally different cause. Posting here in the hopes that it will save someone else a few hours of troubleshooting.
  1. You have to run BGEE once and save a game
  2. You have to run BG2EE once and save a game
  I had only done #1. Doing #2 solved my issue and enabled Roxanne's awesome tool to work its magic.
  Obvious in hindsight!

  I also had this problem, on my side it was problem with bgee, when i chose gender at char cre screen, game freezes and i have to close it. I read and applied all possible solutions to this problem and in the end i finaly made it playable.

  To rehash, i have gog version, whole saga installed, 1, sod, 2.

  So what i did.

  -Install DirectX 9 & 11, latest versions available, .Net Framework same.
  

  -I moved games installations from C partition to D(or any other non windows partition). Maybe C is just not good being system, even if its not in program files folder.
  

  -Baldur.exe(do for both games)->Properties->Compatibility Tab->Run this program as Admin

  -Baldur.exe(do for both games)->Properties->Security Tab->Group or user names - change permissions edit - i gave full control to all users that didnt already have it.

  -As suggested somewhere, change gfx renderer to alternate in BGEE Graphics settings. This last one may not be neccessary for some.

  -Lastly, skipped setup_baldurs_gate_enhanced_edition_-_faces_of_good_and_evil_2.5_(23121) installation. Since its portraits i had problems with, i just left it. In some trials of starting the game i had managed to get into portrait selection screen, but all pics were scrambled lines and after i finished char cre part, once game starts, it again freezes and crashes.

  After i did all those, wo installing faces, somehow i succeeded to have both games up and running normaly.
  

  But now again i have rached a point after bgee & sod merging where EET is asking me to
  

  'start the game, choose a language, start & save the game'. Which i DO again. for bg and sod both, even though i did that before starting bgeet tool for ALL parts, bg1, sod, bp, bg2, tob, bp2. And it still comes to this part. Anyone have ideas what could i be doing wrong?

  This message appears if you do not have the latest releases of the game, i.e. versions 2.5.xx

  If the original game already provides you with problems and crashes, it makes no sense to try and mod it.

  Another source of problems are windows versions prior windows 7. They will not work.

  Also check for the following

  - your game folders contain a file called engine.lua, open it with an editor to see its content. There is a name of a folder in your user/documents

  - check your user/documents/ for folders for Baldurs Gate 1 and 2. Make sure these folders have a baldur.lua file

  Check with your task manager that no copy of the game is running in the background while you try to mod the game.

  this is still downloading stage. is this mod choosing mistake or smtn else? i dont understand why because bgeet didnt give me anymore warnings of dependencies, apart from ones which i solved.

  it wants innershade 9.5, but i could only find 10 online and bgeet couldnt dl it. the dropbox link for it saysit doesnt exist.
  

  tales i got needed version from dropbox link but still get this message.
  
• I updated the tool to Innershade 10, thank you for the hint.

  If you download mods manually, they may be stored at your default location and not in the folder you have selected for mod downloads, so you may need to move them after download.

  Picture standard message is logical, it adds pictures to mod NPCs but only for mods you have.
